The Power Of Study Groups Part 4

         The Power Of Study Groups

                                                           Part 4

Extracting the most benefit from a session
Here are some tips to help your group extract the most benefit from a study session:
·       Decide what you are going to do in advance.
·       Prepare for a session, in order to benefit from your time as a group.
·       Distribute teaching duties in order to reinforce your knowledge.
·       Focus upon the session’s topic.

By supplementing your individual study with a study group, you can reinforce what you have learned, deepen your understanding of complex subjects, and even acquaint yourself with new individuals.
Remember that a person who is a friend encourages you to exhibit your maximum potential and achieve your goals, one who encourages you to attempt to try a complex and proper activity. If someone tries to corrupt you and attempts to ruin your life, then those are not friends, (they are actually your enemies), and you must avoid them. Whoever said learning cannot be enjoyable? Learning is enjoyable and enticing when you study with others.

The Power Of Study Groups Part 3

           The Power Of Study Groups
                                                          part 3
Guide lines For Working Together
Here are some guidelines for creating and operating a study group: How many? Create a group of four to six people. In a larger group, it is easy for someone to find themselves overwhelmed and smaller groups can easily distract themselves.
Why? Pick classmates who seem to share your interest in progression and doing well academically. Observe your classmates and evaluate the alumni who are alert, who take notes, and ask questions and respond to the instructor’s questions. Include someone who understands the material much better than you do and can explain the concepts to an individual who has not grasp the concept in order to be able to explain the concept.
Where? Conduct study sessions in a locale that is free of distractions and that has room in order to spread out you materials such as notebooks and textbooks.
How long? Meet for two to three hours at a time. Having a time limit allows the group to focus. If you know you have a time limit the group’s productivity will increase.
When? Try to meet regularly, on the same day and time each week.

Treating study sessions with a sense of urgency as you would any activities allows you to keep a schedule and ensure that everyone attends.

                                                  Part 2

The benefits of study groups
Study Groups offer other advantages in addition to gaining a deeper understanding of class material. These include the opportunity to: reinforce note taking. If your AP Biology notes are unclear, you can ask a member of your study groups to assist you in the deciphering of your notes. Each person incorporates his or her abilities onto the group, such as organizational skills, persistency, or a capacity of memorization.
Review much more. Group members may be able to solve a calculus problem that none would have solved individually.
Benefit from a support system. Members often hold common goals, such a good grades. Each person’s work affects the other members,

Which result in producing compassionate members. It is fun to study with others; the productivity allows for interesting study sessions. And because it is fun, you spend more time studying!

                                                  Part 1

Working Together Assists Everyone
You may have noticed when you are explaining something you have learned to an associate, you begin to understanding the material toward a better extent. This happens because, when you explain a concept, you must formulate a proper explanation and therefore think and produce a speech.
The same principle allows study groups to be productive. Studying with others in a small group because you:
·       Think from an auditory aspect
·       Share ideas
·       Learn from one another
In an effective study group, you and other students organize lesson materials together-explaining concepts, debating about the concept, answering questions pertaining to the subject, and in the process you will likely learn much more relative to solitary study.
