Balancing High School and a Part time occupation Part 3
Brad Mac Gowan, of the career center that is located at
Newton north High-school in Massachusetts, believes that holding an occupation
can be a significant milestone with in a young student’s life, if they are
responsible. “you can derive a great deal from working, considerably more than
just money,” he says , “iin most cases you can derive a great deal of
discipline, and a lot of new sets and experiences.” In addition, your
supervisor may be willing to write a strong university recommendation for you,
remember academics is your first priority
School work, including homework, and studying for tests,
should always be your first priority. MacGowan cautions students who do decide
to acquire an occupation, “if you are rushing through your assignments…..or not
studying enough for tests because of your occupation, it is time to shorten you
occupational hours or leave the occupation and find an occupation that consumes
less of your time.”
